President’s Message – June 2025

Thank you all for your support this past year. I have had a wonderful time learning more about the history and operations of our organization. I have gained new insight and a deeper appreciation for the work AAUW does to support women in education and in the work force. I learned to pivot, to reexamine my convictions and to stand by them with unwavering determination. Supporting our organization at the National level was a change of heart that I owe to members who know the value of belonging to a national organization. It is more than strength in numbers.

At the May state meeting for AAUW presidents, I learned more about the event, “Women at the Capitol”. The Seattle branch of AAUW organized the event in collaboration with the Center for Women and Democracy and sponsors included some of the top employers and professional organizations in our state including Washington Women Lawyers, TECHNET and the Interagency Committee of State Employed Women. Attendees were able to meet women working in government in Olympia and were also able to meet employers dedicated to equal opportunities and equal pay for women. Several women at the meeting said it was worthwhile, and it was possible to do in a “long” day. I am hoping to attend the conference next spring.

Thank you for letting me be of service. It was an amazing opportunity and a sincere pleasure! I am looking forward to having more time with my AAUW “sisters” and taking part in our branch activities.

Have a great summer!
